Speakingabout the event Rachel said, “I set upthe business in 2017 and did my first trade show in Scotland that year. Itwas a great experience, however this is the first time I have ventured over theBorder to show my work!   I started with cards and prints thenexpanded my range to include, gift wrap and ceramic coasters. At BCTF I willalso be showing some new kitchen and dining items (tea towels, aprons, tablerunners and placemats). I am looking forward to gauging the public and buyers’reactions to the new products.”

Rangesinclude, Bold Blooms and Fabulous Feathers. Bold Blooms are based onillustrations of plants from Rachel’s garden and include popular favouritessuch as iris and lily to the more exotic passion flower and echinacea.  Fabulous Feathers is a collection of exoticbird illustrations showing off their beautiful plumage.

“My work is very detailed and each design can take many days to complete. My main inspirations are from the natural world; when I am not drawing the plants I am growing them! I am fascinated by the rich colours nature has to offer, so exotic birds are also a favourite.”

Racheltrained as a fine artist (printmaker specialising in screen printing) andcompleted her Post Graduate at Glasgow School of Art.  This training hasgreatly influenced her illustrative technique and enabled her to create imageswhich are unique in their style.  The work, inspired by the colours found innature, is distinctive and bold, adding a touch of sophistication to any retaildisplay. Rachel offers small order quantities and a personal service to all heroutlets.

BCTF organiser, Margeret Bunn, says: “We are delighted to welcome Rachel to the exhibition for the first time. She is an exceptionally talented designer and one of a number from Scotland who are participating in the show. There are many indications that people want to support more local, sustainable businesses and are seeking beautifully designed British products which they know are of sound provenance. Research is backed up by strong anecdotal feedback we are receiving from retailers visiting the show and followers on our social media sites. If ever there was a time to support our heritage industries and independent designer-makers, then this is it!”
